Easter Colors

The lake this weekend was a success.. of course. I got to meet my fellow kitten Sydney on the lake, where we almost died due to Hal's driving skills. I did get a little sunburned and the drive home was stressful, but it was a relaxing and re energizing trip. It was much needed.
The perfect reading spot. Even though The Great Gatsby was ruined due to an unknown liquid substance, it looked pretty nice while drying on the deck.
My dad's "party flag"... which casually reads "have mercy on my liver" in Latin. It's a lake house necessity. My dad just had another one made in a white-on-black color scheme.
These lawn chairs can be seen from a mile away sitting on my deck. It's one of my favorite things about the house. It's a colorful and happy place.

... And my dogs discovered that the dead plants can double as a tasty snack. I swear they are part goat. They eat anything and everything.

School is almost over!!! Easter is tomorrow (or today if you count the fact that it's past midnight...) and we only have a few weeks left of junior year... Let the countdown begin! I hope the Easter Bunny treats everyone well and all of you have a great end of the school year!
I'll be having people up to the lake again soon, more pictures will come with it!

Artsy Fartsy

Sooo I went to my school's art show today. I spent the majority of my time in awe at the painting student's work. I documented many of my favorites.
This little beauty is Terrell McCrackhead.... rocking the "Terrell Bun," naturally.
This one is probably my favorite. Not to mention Abbey Crunk is one of the most creative crips I know.

Just some of Abbey Crunk's work... It's amazing.

One of my art buddies did this self portrait of herself and then decided to turn it into a linoleum block print. She titled the prints "I Love Me," and naturally they turned out amazing. Kudos to her, confidence is everything.
This wall was full of Art 1 masterpieces. Every tile was covered with some type of print, pencil drawing or collage. Good job, everyone!!
At Campaigners tonight, we watched the most emotionally draining movie I've ever seen. If you haven't had time to watch The Passion of the Christ yet, I highly recommend it. Even to a non-believer it's a great movie. I learned alot, but I have to admit it made me a little angry. If you've seen it, you know why.
This past month in general has been draining. I've heard a 9/11 survivor's story; which was amazing. I've heard a precious woman speak about her experiences in the Nazi regime. Then, I watched this movie tonight just topped off my emotional capacity...

I'm excited for the lake this weekend! We are stocking up on life jackets and tubes tomorrow; wish me luck!

Gotta Love Awkward Stages

I just uncovered this amazing photos in my library and was debating putting them up... But obviously I decided they were too entertaining to pass up.

Gotta love Turkee Day at the J School. Sometimes I secretly miss these days... but then I remember how much J School sucked and I snap back to reality. I will admit though, you can't beat dress up days at AHJS. Especially considering some of us were still small enough to fit into children's Halloween costumes (Marissa).

First almost-couple pic... Plus Barrett. May I add I was still in my crush stage in this one. It makes me laugh every time.

Those days when our idea of a night out was having our moms drop us off at Paloma Blanca to drink virgin margaritas.

I'm embarrassed to say this selfie was probably legit...

Probably the first documented selfie. Don't worry, the quality has improved

...Back when an iPhone was as uncommon as a kitten with lightning on it.
...Hannah...

The Lake House

We journeyed to the lake this weekend, to receive the key to our new paradise and to eat at Mr. Gatti's... unfortunately, the first time at the lake offers a bad omen when I discover that Mr. Gattis is in fact closed. Bummer... looks like I'll be making the 20 mile trek to the other Mr. Gatti's every time I visit the lake.
I'm quite excited for our new lake house, considering the view is amazing and it has one of the best tanning spots I've ever seen.

Don't worry, fellow lightning kittens, we will have a retreat there very soon. Once Abbey Strunk gets off her crutches....

The view is perfect here... And the blue sky compliments the light blue house so well. Don't worry, the flagpole is lit, so we can fly my Dad's "Party Flag" all night long.
I can tell you that between the wooden porch swing and multitude of lounge chairs, I'll be blogging ALOT.  The first time I discovered this swing, I fell asleep in it... I can tell that this will be a promising relaxation spot.
I have a feeling that this sleeping porch will be the setting for many sleepovers... No worries, we are planning on adding a few cots to make it a little more comfortable. And a few curtains too... This room is perfect for sunsets, I was able to witness one and was left breathless.
New Paradise... the house has a "Rockport" feel but when you walk inside you can tell it's a lake house at heard. The TV is big enough for watching The Bachelor or PLL and has a DVD player, I'm excited to spend rainy days watching marathons of Glee and One Tree Hill.
The perfect tanning spot: the sun hits just right and you can always feel a cool breeze.. The deck is warm and inviting, so everyone get ready to spend all summer in the sunlight!

Nashville

Just returned from a few college visits!
Belmont showed much love to us Texans, however the weather wasn't so kind. I was anticipating a warm spring breeze, and naturally packed J Crew shorts and cardigans. I was greeted with 45 degree frigid cold and resorted to wearing my Belmont sweatshirt that I had purchased that weekend... Yes. I was that girl. Other than that, the weekend was promising. The only down side was that Taylor Swift was out of town that weekend. We had planned on staking out at her apartment... fail.
I had fun eating at the Pancake Pantry in Nashville where we waited in the blistering cold for 49 minutes... it was well worth the wait. Plus, I got the coolest t-shirt ever; clad with buttered pancakes orbiting the Earth.
I discovered some treasures at the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum. Being a Texas girl, I screeched when I found the original lyrics of "White Liar" and "Days Go By." Faith Hill's 2000 Versace heels also screamed my camera's name.
These little glass animals were precious... I was tempted to buy one, but between airport security and my purse I figured I wouldn't be able to keep up with it.
San Antonio Taco Company (SATCO) was also a must-see spot. My Pre Cal teacher (and Vanderbilt alum.) recommended that I visit it. Started by a former Alamo Heights Student, it offered a familiar feel being so far away from home.
These records.... there had to have been at least a thousand. My travel companion's aunt is the mastermind behind mounting all of these records... kudos to her.
Tulips!! This is one thing that I miss from my Nashville trip. I can't remember the last time I saw tulips in San Antonio. It's too hot here...
